I have always had the heart for social good and mission trips, especially overseas. Knowing that others didn’t have access to clean water, kids were literally starving and women were doing everything they could to care for their families, but were still not being able to provide because of the lack of opportunity available to them, was heartbreaking to me, even as a child.
While adopting, I realized the importance of helping families stay together. I knew then, that my involvement in adoption was for a greater purpose: to not only parent and love my children, but to somehow help keep families together.
By providing clean water and medicine, deaths are reduced. By providing jobs and educational opportunities, men and women are able to support their families. All of these things combined, not only reduce deaths and improve quality of life, they prevent the reasons why children become orphaned in the first place.
When I first heard of Noonday Collection, I knew it was something special. I quickly became an ambassador ready to take on the world with the beautiful jewelry and awesome mission. I thought God was telling me to “Go for it!” I soon realized my limitations when trying to juggle a Noonday business, adopting two children and running my blog. My blog has been an additional income for the last six years for our family and what helped us financially during the adoption process. It has been a blessing.
I now feel God was actually whispering to me all along, that I should be using my time and talents to turn my blog, my platform I already had established, into something for good. Now I promote social good businesses and campaigns (especially Noonday!) on my blog and share the mission with many more people than I could have ever reached before while trying to juggle everything.
I would be honored and privileged to be able to be on the Noonday #StyleForJustice Story Team, travel to Rwanda, and use my platform for good- What God was telling me to do all along.
