Do you have a bedding set? I have always had just a plain white comforter with the pillows we sleep on. Once I got an actual duvet cover and decorative pillows, they made my bed feel luxurious and my room instantly looked put together. After spending time in amazing hotels the past few years, I realized there is just something about climbing into a beautifully made bed and I wanted to recreate that at home.
There are so many ways to arrange bed pillows, so play around with what you like best. Here is what I did:
- Euro pillows: Euro pillows are large square pillows (26″x26″) that are usually just for decor and are used to create height. The Euro shams I have are from Crane and Canopy in Cora Green.
- Queen pillows: These are the pillows we sleep on and they are just in standard white pillowcases.
- Standard pillows: These tufted gray pillows and shams are standard size (20″x26″).
- Decorative pillow: A decorative pillow is one that you don’t sleep on. Use these to add different textures to your bed.
What is a duvet cover?
A comforter is a thick, fluffy blanket and sits on top of your sheets. This is what I have had on my bed. A comforter (aka duvet) fits inside and is protected with a duvet cover. This is washable and removable. I like the duvet cover because you can easily wash it since it’s not bulky like a comforter and you can easily change the look of your room and bed without buying a whole new comforter.
The duvet cover I have is extra-special because the zipper to insert the comforter is not at the end, but is strategically placed toward the middle. This makes it super simple to insert and as you can see in the photo below, the duvet cover is two-toned to made to look like a flat sheet (made to look like a nicely made, luxurious bed) but it’s quick and easy to make.
My signature duvet cover is from Crane and Canopy in Cora Gray.
A Simple Bed-Making Tip!
Here is my bed before. As you can see the duvet cover and comforter do not cover my box spring and it makes the bed look unkept. My bed frame does not allow for a bed skirt. I’ve seen so many beds like this and you may have one too. There is one simple trick that will go miles in making a beautiful bed…
Buy a simple fitted sheet and cover your box spring. It really is such a simple way to dress up a bed and get rid of that ugly box spring. You can see below, how much of my box spring would show, but the white fitted sheet goes with anything. They do make specific box spring covers, but since I already have a closet full of spare fitted sheets, it was an easy and cost effective way to solve the ugly box spring problem.
Crane and Canopy gave me this signature duvet cover and the Euro Shams to review. I love how they instantly transformed me bed. You can buy the same Signature Cora Gray Duvet cover for only $129.
