Now that my son, Colton, goes to school all day, we don’t have leisurely mornings like we did when he went to afternoon preschool. Our mornings seem rushed and unorganized. I can imagine this feeling will quadruple when our four children are able to come home, so I have to figure out what works the best for our morning routine quickly!
Here’s are some great tips to help with your morning routine:
1. Packing lunches at night. My son wants to bring his lunch several times a week. It feels so much better to not worry about rushing to fill a lunchbox right before school. When I pack his lunch at night, not only am I saving time in the morning, but I’m also able to take the time to put in healthy foods that I know my son will eat.
6. Early to Bed. I can’t stress enough how important a strict bedtime is important for kids, but it is easier said than done. Whenever Colton goes to bed late, I can tell the difference the next morning. One of the reasons he stays up past his bedtime is he takes his sweet time getting ready for bed, probably intentionally. By implementing the rule of moving bedtime 15 minutes earlier for every 5 minutes he’s late, it will help him to be in bed on time and less cranky in the morning.
7. Get up! This isn’t an issue for morning people, but I am not a morning person and never will be. By getting up at least 30 minutes before the kids, it’s easier to be ready to tackle the day.
10. Simplify the bath routine. If your shower is anything like mine, than you have a variety of different soaps, shampoos and body washes. Colton can now take showers by himself, but he usually has to ask me which soap. Suave Kids 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner, and body wash help streamline showers for little ones.
My sleepy head needs extra time in his morning routine to get out of bed!
How do you make your morning routine run smooth?
Head in-store or online to shop all Suave® products at the best value! This is a post sponsored by Lunchbox.
I do all of these (except my son now takes showers – love the all-in-one Suave products) with the exception of going to bed early. My son is in the 5th grade this year and he asked at the end of last school year if he could stay up later. He has trouble going to sleep unless he is truly sleepy. So we tried it and we told him as long as he was easy to get up on school mornings and he made good grades, we had no trouble with it. So he usually goes to bed at 10:00 at night. He makes straight As *knocks* wood. :) And all I do is go to his doorway in the mornings and say, “Good morning.” Literally. And he gets up immediately.
Great time saver tips. I try to do the lunches at night but sometimes other things get in the way. I need to get better at that.
Packing the lunches the night before helps me and I don’t even have kids, lol! :)
Great tips, thanks for sharing! I do pack my family’s food the night before, I am just lazy to wake up 10 minutes earlier! But I always have my healthy juice before hitting the road, this is a must for me. Cheers!
These are great tips! I am awful at mornings…and pretty much leaving the house with the kids, period. :-/ I can use all the help I can get!
I do pack some of the lunch the night bofore and showers at night are a must!
Any way to save time in the morning is a help. Great tips! Thanks!
