Heart-related diseases have not been prevalent in my family and I’m grateful for that, but I’m always trying to make healthier choices for my family overall, including heart-healthy foods. There are a few simple swaps you can make and certain foods you can incorporate for a heart healthy diet.
- More fruits and veggies!
- Choose whole grains!
- Cook with less fats!
- Use less salt and more herbs!
- Look for Heart Healthy Campbells soups
You could win a $50,000 Kitchen makeover courtesy of Campbells by sharing how you care for your heart. Here’s my sample submission:
I care for my heart by exercising and making healthy choices. I try to stock my pantry with healthier choices: low-sodium soups, flax seeds, quinoa and legumes. Simple swaps like whole grain instead of white is an easy heart-healthy choice. Using low-sodium and low-fat soups in casseroles is a healthy choice my family doesn’t even realize I’m making for them! We like to exercise as a family by playing indoor basketball in the winter or taking walks when it’s nice out! Making healthy choices is a combination of healthy foods and a healthy lifestyle.
