When I started this blog I had no clue that it would grow into something this big and I’m grateful for all of those who come to read what I have to share. In particular, I hope that you show support to causes like the Children’s Miracle Network in which I am one of the first Miracle Moms.
Each Miracle Mom blogger is connected with a nearby children’s hospital that is part of the Children’s Miracle Network and then we are connected with a very special family with a child who receives care. If you don’t already know, “the Children’s Miracle Network helps local children who may suffer from common childhood afflictions like asthma and broken bones, or fight bigger challenges like birth defects or cancer. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provide comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick kids each year.”
My main goal in participating in this program is to share local children’s stories and raise awareness for the need to donate to these programs. I hope to raise $1,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network and for children like Christopher who has received care at the University of Iowa’s Children Hospital.

Christopher has Eosionophilic Esphogitis (EE). EE means that the eosinophilis in his body treat the food he eats like a parasite. This in turn releases a large amount of toxins which make him nauseous and causes him to vomit. He is on a formula only diet which he receives through his G-tube and is supplemented at times with an iv nutrition. Christopher had a kidney transplant in October 2010. The only “real” food he can eat are rice and potatoes.
Christopher loves basketball and school which he has been enjoying attending now on a regular basis. You can read all about Christopher’s story on his Care page. He is receiving care from the University of Iowa Children’s Center which has been dedicated to meeting the health care needs of children and families for more than 90 years. I’m proud to say the U of I Children’s Hospital has been given many honors and has ranked in one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation.
Please join me in showing compassion to local sick and injured children. Let’s raise $1,000 for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network and help kids like Christopher. You can make your tax-deductible donation here.
I am participating in and receive payment for the #MiracleMoms campaign. All proceeds are proudly donated back to the Children’s Miracle Network!
