Valentine’s Day isn’t a big event in my house, although I wish it was. Sometimes I wish my husband would surprise me with thoughtfulness, something that has rarely happened, if ever. Now when I say I wish Valentine’s day was a “big event,” in our house, I don’t mean tons of money needs to be spent on gifts and heck, we don’t even need to go out to dinner. He could even order flowers online which would take about 5 minute of his time. Thoughtfulness. Do you hear me all you husbands out there? This is the day you are supposed to show your wife how much you love her, care about her, and are so lucky to have her.
Here are some gift suggestions and tips coming from a wife probably similar to yours, who thinks thoughtfulness is key.

Cherry Blossoms Candle tops my list because my husband and I just bought our first home and I have been trying to decorate. This candle would go perfect on our kitchen table. This may not be the gift for your wife, she may not even like candles, but the point is to think about what is going on in her life right now. What are her hobbies? What has she been talking about lately? Think really really hard, she may have already been giving you subtle hints.

Hand Dipped Valentines Berries The. dreaded. box. of. chocolates. I really hope you don’t go shopping last minute at the Walgreens up the road only to pick up the first Valentine-zy looking box of chocolates. If I am going to divulge in a box of chocolates it might as well be a box of hand dipped Valentine’s Day berries. Think out of the box hubbies! You can still get your wife chocolate, don’t get me wrong, chocolate is very, very good, but try going to a bakery and picking up some cute mini cupcakes or a cookie cake with a special message. Still want those chocolates in a box? Try these 10 Reasons I Love You Truffles.

Braided Money Tree I guess I’m not the traditional flowers and chocolate gal (if you can’t already tell). Flowers are beautiful, but they die in a week. For those few days it reminds me how thoughtful my husband was for getting me flowers (this is hypothetical, I don’t remember the last time my husband bought me flowers). I would much rather have this braided money tree, something that will last a lot longer. I will be able to water it, care for it, and everyday it will remind me of how thoughtful you were.

Couples Conversations Table Topics Now this is a thoughtful gift, and something very few husbands would think of. If you talk the night away with your spouse, than this probably isn’t the gift for your wife. My husband and I rarely talk, just to talk. These questions for couples will show your wife that you want to learn things you never knew about her, you want to know her thoughts, and you want to spend time talking just because you enjoy her company.
