First Trick-or-Treating

This year was Colton’s first year trick-or-treating and the first thing he said when he woke up was “I’m so excited!”  I was excited because I found exactly what he wanted to be, a puppy, at Kmart for $8.  We drove to our friends’ neighborhood since we live in an apartment complex neighborhood.  I didn’t think he was going to last very long, but after each house he would say, “More houses!”  We ended up going up and down two streets, about an hour and 20 minutes – pretty darn good for a 2 year old.

One thing I noticed was: trick-or-treating has changed.  What happened to the creative (even homemade!) Halloween costumes when I was a kid?  Some kids weren’t even wearing costumes and there was even a dad pushing a tiny baby getting candy for her.  As the fun times of Halloween and trick-or-treating are fading away, I want to make it a fun time for Colton (and future kids).  I want to decorate the house and outside in spooky Halloween decor, make spider cupcakes  and of course- carve pumpkins.

Let’s bring back the good ‘ole days!
