Win an All Terrain X3 Sport Single Stroller from Tike Tech!

UPDATEConsumer report’s recent tests of strollers revealed three models that we’ve designated Don’t Buy: Safety Risk—the Valco Baby Tri-Mode and Tike Tech City X3 all-terrain strollers and the Tike Tech X3 Sport jogging stroller.

Sounds like a great car, right?  Nope, this All Terrain X3 Sport is actually a stroller from the 2010 line of Tike Tech strollers!  If you and your family like to go walking or jogging then this is the stroller for you.  This stroller is built to glide safely and comfortably over the bumps of the road.  It is car seat and bassinet compatible so even the littlest of adventure seekers can come along.

Tike Tech designs baby gear products with an emphasis on the outdoors and has a commitment to quality, safety and customer support.  All 2009/2010 strollers are field and internally tested rigorously to create and maintain the safest possible product.  Not only does Tike Tech have safety as a priority, they also have variety.  You can add several different accessories to any of the strollers including: car seat adapters, snack and pack bag, foot muffs, stroller covers, bassinets, baby doodle  inserts and water bottle holders.

Here are some features of the X3 Sport Single that I like:

  • Seat: Fully padded with low ride recline (suitable from 6 weeks on) with padded seat bottom and seat back support (not flimsy hammock style). Includes a mesh pocket and a removable rear seat cover. Stain resistant makes clean up a snap.
  • Seat Harness: 5-point harness with adjustable padded safety straps, shoulder pads and adjustable chest strap.
  • Canopy: Removable (multi positional) with adjustable “low drop down visor”. Includes a large moon roof with moon roof cover.
  • Warranty: 5 year on frame. Standard 1 year on soft goods.

Tike Tech has other strollers including the: City X3 Swivel Single, City X3 Twin, City X4 Swivel Single and the X3 Sport Twin.  All strollers can come in Classic Black, Pacific Blue, Alpine Red or Autumn Orange.

Here is what we thought of the X3 Sport:

Introduction and a Summer Fun Giveaway! (Closed)

summerfun_3

I’m new to the Busy Mom team so I figured what better way to introduce myself than with a summer fun giveaway?

I am Barbara, single mom to two little boys who keep me plenty busy! My oldest will be starting kindergarten next week and my youngest just turned 3. We’re all about playing outside, biking, digging in the dirt looking for dinosaur bones, chasing dragons (you may call them lizards but we know what they really are!), reading, putting on puppet shows, and making all kinds of crafts and handmade gifts for everyone we love.

We’ve had lots of fun this summer and collected tons of digital photos so I was thrilled when the folks at Online Poster Printing contacted me about doing a giveaway. They’re offering one of our readers a free 16×20″ Gallery or Museum Wrapped Canvas print of the digital photo of your choice. All you have to do is leave me a comment describing the photo you’d like to have enlarged.

Extra Entries: You can subscribe to Busy Mom with your email for 5 extra entries and leave a comment on this post http://busy-mommy.com/2009/07/top-10-reasons-i-am-excited-to-stay-home-with-my-family-this-coming-weekend.html for three extra entries!  One winner will be chosen at random next Friday, July 31.

My Cooking Experience with Ben Ford and Dole – Part 1

As you may know, I won the Dole Make Me A Chef contest and was able to travel to Beverly Hills to cook with Ben Ford!  Well, I had a wonderful trip.  I took my Aunt Susan, who lives in a small town in Iowa where a daily activity is to go through the corn fields and “pick rock,” to make money.  Did you know you can get corn rash??

I also took my Aunt Laura and her husband Mike.  Mike is a manager and chef at one of the few fine dining restaurants in Des Moines so he had a great experience, especially chatting with Ben Ford about various cooking tips.

Here we are in the pastry kitchen of Ford’s Filling Station, which is where we had our cooking lesson.  Don’t we look lovely in our DOLE aprons?

Mike is attentively watching Ben Ford demonstrating how to make the Pina Colada Creme Caramel with Pineapple Chantilly Cream

Here I am eating the Pineapple Shrimp Curry.  I have actually never had a curry before.  This was delicious and very simple to make.  In my  “Cooking Experience with Ben Ford and Dole,” Part 2, I will demonstrate how to make each of the recipes Ben Ford taught us how to make.  They are simple to make, perfect for the Busy Mom.  I am sure many of you have the recipe ingredients in your pantry (like DOLE canned fruit :) )

Here is the whole group.  The winners, DOLE, and the Rogers Group who is DOLE’s Public Relations.  Everyone was very nice.  We actually didn’t think anyone was going to be at Ford’s Filling Station when we got there.  We were debating on whether to walk in and say “Hi, we are here for the cooking lesson,” and be afraid Ben Ford would respond, “Huh? Who are you dorks?”  But when we arrived, as soon as we got out of the car, a camera man came rushing towards us and started taking photos.  (I have those photos and they are hilarious.  We have strange looks on our faces like, “what is going on?”)

I don’t know if you can see the family resemblance here, but Ben is Harrison Ford’s son.  I know he probably doesn’t like to be referred to that, but it is funny how they look alike.  We all had a great time chatting and Ben Ford seems like a great guy.  He told us about many of the upcoming shows he is going to be on and I think he will become a regular on TV.  How exciting!

Be on the lookout for more photos of my “adventure,” as well as the step by step photo instructions of Ben Ford’s DOLE recipes.
