Nutrilite Supplements (Giveaway)

Last month I went to the Amway Center of Health in California to view the process of how the Nutrilite supplements are made first-hand. We toured the facilities, watched batches of vitamins being made, and listened to a few interesting speakers on who and what Nutrilite is all about. If you aren’t familiar with Nutrilite, they are the  the leader of mineral, vitamin, and dietary supplements worldwide. Their plant concentrates are grown according to sustainable farming principles on their organic farms like Trout Lake Farm, pictured below. This is one of the major reasons I believe they are the leader in their industry.

Why you need vitamins…

I will shamefully admit before this experience I never took vitamins, but I decided to go on this trip because I needed the knowledge and that little extra push to living a more healthy life. Nutrilite and the doctors, scientists, and everybody behind the scenes are very firm believers that you can only achieve optimal health through a healthy diet, exercise, and healthy lifestyle choices. You then fill in the nutritional gaps with Nutrilite supplements.

Color yourself healthy

One of the most interesting things I learned is that we are actually supposed to be eating 9-13 servings of fruits and vegetables each day and you should try to eat every color of fruit and vegetable. Why do colors matter? Each color contains different plant nutrients, or phytonutrients, which act as antioxidants to protect your cells and also have specific health benefits. Here is a great chart with all of the fruits and vegetables in each color category and what nutrients are associated with them.

Giveaway We will be giving away a 31 day supply of NUTRILITE® DOUBLE X® Supplements to three Busy Mommy readers. Double X helps fill your nutritional gaps with 12 essential vitamins, 10 essential minerals, and 20 plant concentrates, grown and harvested on our own certified organic farms. No artificial colors or preservatives.

Enter by leaving a mandatory comment below with anything you learned about Nutrilite supplements. You can get a few extra entries by sharing this as many places as you want… (Twitter, Facebook, StumpleUpon, Pinterest, etc) each for an extra entry. Please provide links to these. Giveaway is open to US only and ends on October 7th.

Visit To Trout Lake Farm

I have never been to the Pacific Northwest and I can’t believe it has been missing from my life for this long. I am seriously trying to talk my husband into packing up our things and moving to Oregon or Washington, but I doubt there is any chance of that happening. You guys that live there are truly lucky to wake up to that beautiful scene!

Continuing on from the day before at the Amway Center for Health, where we learned how the supplements are made, tested, and why we need them, we flew private jet to Oregon (In case you are wondering, as did my teenage brothers, the plane was a G5).

From there we were headed to Trout Lake Farm in Washington where one of Nutrilite’s certified organic farms is located. This farm is one of several that grow the ingredients used in the Nutrilite supplements – once again, another reason why they are the number one selling supplement brand.

On the drive to Trout Lake Farm, we stopped at the beautiful Multnomah Falls in Oregon, a must-see stop if you are in the area. Amanda (kevinandamanda.com) and I just had to take a photo in front of the scenery.

The view at Trout Lake Farm is breathtaking, it would be an amazing job to work there! Many of the items that go into the Nutrilite supplements are grown here organically. They take immense pride in their organic and sustainable farming practices (Fun fact: Did you know that unlike other supplement makers, Nutrilite has the ability to trace your vitamins through the lot number on the package to exactly which of their farms each ingredient came from?)

Just look at that view!

This is a field of Echinacea, which is used in some of Nutrilite’s supplements. They aren’t just pretty to look at, the plant and root provide immune support. An interesting part about the sustainable farming concept is the “interaction and diversity of the people, animals, plants and elements of the earth working together in perfect balance.” So for instance, to control certain pests, ladybugs by the buckets full have been spread across Trout Lake Farm. This is one of many examples of how Trout Lake Farm encourages nature’s own system of balance by providing habitats and food for natural enemies of pests.

So that means creatures like this bee are welcomed!

What a fabulous experience this was, definitely an exclusive behind-the-scenes look. If only everyone could experience in person how Nutrilite goes from seed to supplement then they would be in every home! But through the pictures and information I’ve shared with you, I hope you take the initiative to check out these supplements that will benefit your health. (Stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway, three winners will receive one months supply of Nutrilite’s most popular supplement – DoubleX)!

Amway Center for Optimal Health Visit

You may remember a few weeks ago when I wrote that I was taking a trip to the Amway Center for Optimal Health. Well I’m back now, and armed with some good information, but first let me tell you a bit about what I did.

The whole trip was a little overshadowed by my laptop being stolen (or lost and never turned in), but I tried not to let that put a damper on my mood. I arrived at the glamorous Island hotel in Newport Beach and had the evening to myself to rest up for our jam-packed days ahead.

The next morning, bright and early, I met up with some fabulous bloggers and we headed to the Center for Optimal Health.

Once we arrived, we took an extensive health test which included bone density, measurements, a reach test, sit-ups, a grip test, and we even had our blood drawn. The most exciting thing was the genetic testing, which we should be getting our results back soon. Throughout the afternoon we attended presentations by Dr. Micheline Vargas and Dr. Keith Randolph. Fun fact: Did you know that Nutrilite has hundreds of Doctors and Scientists on staff?

These presentations gave us an inside look into some new ground-breaking information in weight management. Through genetic testing and studies, Nutrilite has discovered that because everyone has different genes, they are predisposed to certain types of diets. That’s why a diet that works for you may not work for your friend. We are predisposed to either a low-fat or low-carb diet and either a high-intensity or low-intensity exercise. Once I get my genetic tests back I will be able to see what diet and exercise plan is best for me and if I need to address any nutritional issues that I may be lacking in.

Another person who recently took the genetic test was someone I was very excited to meet… the new Nutrilite spokesperson, Kurt Warner, who is also from the beautiful state of Iowa and still holds those Midwestern values.

After lunch with Kurt, a tour around the Center for Optimal Health proved that Amway and Nutrilite are serious about the quality and function of their supplements. So much research, development, and testing is being put into these – no wonder they are the #1 selling vitamin and supplement brand.

Yes, that’s us decked out in protective wear really getting a behind-the-scenes look at the process.

After our brains were filled will knowledge and the day was done, we went to eat at the scrumptious True Food Kitchen. After an exhausting day I went back to the hotel and crashed. Stay tuned for day two where we flew to Trout Lake Farm in Washington where the ingredients for the Nutrilite supplements are grown organically – a truly breathtaking place!
