Hi, my name is Emily. I started blogging after the birth of my first son in 2007 as a hobby. Little did I know that I would truly grow into the name ‘Busy Mommy’ and blogging would become more than a hobby. In 2013, our family grew to five through adoption. In 2015, we became a family of seven! We are a transracial family. That means my mommy duties include striving to be the best mom I can be by helping my kids and family navigate the complexities of adoption, keeping my kids’ Ghanaian cultural roots and advocating and learning about racial aspects that affect them and others in America.

There’s no place I’d rather raise my family than the Midwest. I’m a movie and tv-series-aholic. A good book is my happy place. I’m a home cook with a lot to learn. My food is not gourmet. Simple and easy is my goal at home, but I’m a foodie at heart. I have an art degree (which is unfortunately known as one of the top 10 useless degrees to have!) I love to see the world. I’m grateful to have spent time in Ghana, Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Jamaica and I look forward to visiting other countries and experiencing different cultures.

Busy Mommy is my outlet to share my thoughts on daily living and all of the things we deal with and strive for on a daily basis, but also simple, practical ways we can contribute to the good of the world. We can make a difference as women and moms and provide a living example for the next generation.
