‘I’m Having Their Baby’ Oxygen Docu-Series on Adoption

Interestingly enough, the day I sit down to write about the new show I’m Having Their Baby, a new docu-series on Oxygen, I hear some good news about our own adoption process. I knew the day would eventually come when I would hear from our social worker that we have a potential referral (matched with a child), but I never knew the overwhelming feelings that would come as we live out each part of this emotional process and get one step closer to our son.

As a (future) adoptive Mother, I love all adoption stories because I understand the act of adoption. I’m in it.

The process is so powerful, heartbreaking, unpredictable, joyous and exciting. It’s a roller coaster of emotions and I think adoption is often misunderstood, mainly because people just aren’t exposed to it enough.

There are so many different facets of adoption and that is part of the reason I’m choosing to blog our journey and the reason I’m looking forward to the I’m Having Their Baby premiere (July 23 at 11PM ET/PT). It shows us the perspective of the selfless act of adoption by the birthmother, which is a side that is often not seen.

To spur discussion around adoption and the I’m Having Their Baby docu-series, I’m delighted to give away a $100 Visa gift card. You can view more about the show and watch sneak peeks here. To be entered, all you have to do is:

  • Leave a comment about the show and/or the topics it addresses
  • Reply to someone else’s comment
  • Share this post via any social media site. {Here’s a tweet: Enter to win $100 Visa Gift card @IHTBonOxygen “I’m Having Their Baby” Premieres July 23rd 11/ET http://bit.ly/NEPGbk}

Another exciting element about this promotion of I’m Having Their Baby is that the blog with the most engaged users receives a $1,000 gift card. With your help and discussion around the show, you could help add that $1,000 to our adoption fund. With the simple act of leaving a few comments and sharing the show launch with your friends you will have a direct hand in being able to bring our son home.

    I would like to see this show. I thought it premiered tonight, but I guess I had the wrong day and I missed it last night :0( Hopefully I can catch it next week. I think it’s wonderful that you are going to be an adoptive Mom!

    I didn’t get to see the show yet, but sounds like I’d be frustrated with Eric as well. I think we’d be surprised how many men leave when there is an illness involved. I fought cancer for two years and my husband was great… always there for me. I met quite a few women in my cancer support group whose husbands had left them when they were diagnosed. So sad.

  10. I didn’t get to watch it last night :(, but I taped it to watch later. How was it?
