The Great Stuffing Debate ($50 Visa Gift Card Giveaway)

You may have had a stuffing debate in your house for years, just like many around the country. Family traditions and different tastes often lead to what stuffing you have, how it’s prepared on Turkey Day, and even what it’s called (Stuffing vs. Dressing?) In my house, we don’t have a particular stuffing we make every Thanksgiving, but we like to try new recipes.

A few years ago I made this delicious Southern Style Dressing and it was a hit. Filled with sweet potatoes, bacon, collard greens, cornbread and pecans, this was definitely the highlight of my meal. My Uncle is making the stuffing this year and usually includes sausage. We have never had oysters in our stuffing, and I don’t know if I would like it.

Even if you aren’t the from-scratch-stuffing-kind-of-family and pre-boxed is the way to go, you can still mix in ingredients to create a new and interesting stuffing. This is exactly what I did for dinner tonight. I sauteed spinach, garlic, onion, bacon, pecans, a little Swanson broth and mixed it in with a boxed stuffing mix.
