Sweet and Spicy Tuna Wonton Cup Recipe

If you don’t like Tuna, trust me, you will like this appetizer recipe. The wonton cups are the fun part, but the sweet and spicy salad inside is delicious. These Sweet and Spicy Tuna Wonton Cups are perfect to serve at parties and super easy to make. It’s so delicious you can just turn this into a huge salad and have it for lunch. You can try many different variations of this: skip the slivered almonds and add toasted ramen noodles or sunflower seeds. Try it with different lettuces or cabbage. This is my favorite variation. Enjoy!

Sweet and Spicy Tuna Wonton Cups

Ingredients

  • 24 Wonton Skins
  • 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 Romain hearts, shredded
  • 2 cups Napa Cabbage, shredded
  • 1 (5oz) can (Bumblebee) Spicy Thai Chili Tuna Medley
  • 2 tsp. sesame seeds
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Dressing

  • 6 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 3 Tablespoons vinegar
  • 4 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Spray the mini muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray and arrange wonton skins in muffin tin to create cups. Bake until golden brown, around 10 minutes.
  2. Place  1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil in heated skillet and toast almonds. Set aside.
  3. Wash and thinly slice romaine, napa cabbage and green onions. Place in bowl.
  4. Drain Tuna and mix with lettuce mixture. (This is easiest with your hands. You want an even amount of tuna throughout).
  5. Mix all ingredients together and place a little of the mixture in each wonton cup! Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

I am not at all a tuna eater but these were amazing! I absolutely loved the flavor & no fishy taste! I’ve made them 2x in one week ♥♥♥

Love the little wontoneroonies! I’m going to sub some minced shrimp, eat enough tuna already! Bet they’d be awesome with canned red salmon too, which is wild-caught and very very mild.

  3. These make such great appetizers! I may make it this weekend. I would use tuna(sauteed lightly) or chicken.

    Gorgeous photos.

Hmm.. I don’t know. Do you think you could make raw wonton chips in the dehydrator?

  5. Emily says:

OK – this sounds delicious except for the tuna. I can’t do tuna. But … I wonder how this would taste with chicken?

This tuna doesn’t taste like tuna. It compliments the sweet flavor of the dressing perfect! But yes, chicken tastes delicious in this.
