Beat the Heat- Swim In A Bucket!
June 17th, 2010 • Related • Filed Under
My cousin is actually the same age as my son. Now that we’ve moved back to Iowa, they have numerous play dates throughout the week. Dory is a “princess”- the ultimate girly girl. My son is all boy. Trucks, wrestling, and sports are his thing. Combine the two of them- and you have an unpredictable show!
The day after my sister’s graduation party, the weather was quite warm. Everyone was lounging on the deck and the two little munchkins decided to start playing in the buckets we had full of ice and pop the previous day. They played for HOURS. There is a pool at my parents house, but nope- the two of them had as much fun in a bucket full of pop cans and water.

I used to have Photoshop, but now I use Picnik. I would totally recommend the premium version which is about $20/year. That’s how I edit the photos and put the text on them. I have a Canon Rebel xti

Mini Poem: Bucket Cousins
No mommy don’t take us to grandma’s pool,
we know how to stay kid playing cool.
Yesterday’s graduation party buckets will do just fine.
They are filled with melted ice water and pop cans sitting in a line.
See when our hair is wet our reddish highlights just glow.
Do you think cousin Dory’s hair will stay curly and mine straight as we grow?
Mom we’ve only been playing and swimming in the buckets for a few hours.
Don’t make us get out or Dory won’t gain any mermaid powers.
Okay, I am getting shriveled and wrinkley,
and I think I need to go inside to the potty.
Okay Mom, you’ll get your way today,
but please don’t put the graduation party buckets away.

They are so adorable!!! I love how kids just live in the moment! At least they found something that they could do together!
