Martha Stewart Clean- Natural Cleaning Products
Martha Stewart is the Queen of the Home- it’s only fitting that she now has her own green cleaning product line. Martha Stewart Clean is now available in all Home Depots, Giant Eagle stores and online at Amazon.com.
Being “clean” and “green” isn’t new to Martha, have you checked out her body+soul magazine? It is filled with green-living and health tips with a more natural approach. It fittingly has tips for your body and soul. One of my favorite articles is “10 Thoughts on Whole Living” which I posted awhile back. The March issue of body+soul contains another interesting article on “50 Tips For a Greener, Cleaner Home“
Mindy Pennybacker author of “Do One Green Thing: Saving the Earth Through Simple, Everyday Choices” encourages to start with recycling, “We each produce our own weight in garbage every month. But don’t just think about your ‘out’ bin — think recyclable and recycled when bringing items into your home, too.”
To help you “go green” in your home, we are giving away the whole Martha Stewart Clean product line away to a Busy Mom reader ($75 value). These natural cleaning products use 99%+ plant and mineral based ingredients of the highest quality, all in recyclable packaging. The line consists of: dish and hand soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, fabric softener, all-purpose cleaner, glass and mirror cleaner, carpet stain remover, wood floor cleaner, bathroom cleaner and toilet bowl cleaner.
How to Enter: You may leave as many comments as you would like about what you are currently doing to “go green”, any tips you may have, or something you wish you could do more of. Stay on topic! (Follow us on twitter for 3 entries right away @busymomblog) Giveaway ends March 22nd, US only

I’m working at replacing all my cleaning products with green products, but sometimes I’m not happy with what I’ve purchased. I’d love to be able to have a whole set of products to replace what I have on hand, but it’s pricey to do that.

Well, I’m moderately living a green life. I’m learning more as I go along. I freecycle things can easily be re-used instead of throwing them away. I have a water filter, and I now longer buy water bottles – this has saved me loads of money! I try my best to use eco friendly cleaning products since I know traditional household products can have a bad impact on my health. I’ve also started buying energy efficient light bulbs, and I try to not use lights when not needed.

We have switched all bulbs to CFL’s. Unplug anything not in use (it only takes a second to plug it back in when we need it) We also use only cold water for laundry and plant a larger and larger veggie garden every year.

We recently changed all of your lightbulbs to CFLs. They’re a little more expensive than regular light bulbs, but California (where I live) subsidised a certain amount of them and I found them at the local drugstore for less than regular bulbs! Also, they last 10 times as long!

terrible confession — i don’t recycle most of our trash items. i wish i could but we live rural and the only way we could would be to drive our garbage to the nearest town with recycling centers which is near on hour away. with 5 kids my vehicle is pretty well full all the time and i don’t venture out much so i don’t drive our trash out!

Comment by Katy M on 18 March 2010:
We purchased a salad-spinner about three months ago. It’s great. The one we got is made of metal, so there’s no petroleum products used in it, and now instead of using paper towels or towels we then have to wash and dry to dry fruits and veggies, we just give it a quick spin.
It’s fun, too!
Thanks!

I wish I used more green based cleaners but they are just that little bit more expensive for the most part and on our limited income we really can’t afford them as much as I would like to.
Comment by Amy on 21 March 2010:
We are went greener by cutting out paper towels! We bought a pack of “bar towels” from our local Target and we use those to wipe up spills and then throw them in the washer when all 8 of them are dirty (we use each one more than once!)
Comment by Amy on 21 March 2010:
We are a green family because we recycle our newspapers too!

Comment by Kathy S on 21 March 2010:
I no longer use plastic bags from the grocery store. I will accept paper bags (but only for when I need them to compact newspapers for recycling.) It may not seem like a big thing, but whenever I am driving and see an ugly plastic bag stuck up in a tree on one of my local rural roads, it’s a reminder that I’m glad that I’m not contributing to that problem.

I recently read that if you skip rinsing your plates before putting them in the dishwasher that your dishes are just as clean, but you save about 15 gallons per load!!! So we started doing it and our dishes are just as clean as before!
Thanks for the great giveaway!!!
Comment by Katy M on 22 March 2010:

Thanks!

I went online and stopped my bank from sending me paper statements. I always just threw them out or shredded them anyway because I do everything online anyway.
Thanks!!!
Comment by Betty C on 22 March 2010:
I recycle or reuse everything possible. Plastic grocery sacks (when I forget my reusable ones) are recycled at the grocery store, shredded paper becomes packing filler and old appliances are sold for scrap metal.
Comment by Betty C on 22 March 2010:
Freecycle is wonderful. When I need items I check Freecyle first to see if anyone has what I need. I will sometimes post a request for a particular item. I have gotten appliances and given away baby furniture.

Thanks for the giveaway…we’ve gone green with our cleaning products EXCEPT for the bathroom: the tub & tile are prone to mold and only bleach seems to get that out; perhaps Martha’s new cleaning products are effective with that problem area.

Lately, before we leave the house and at night before we go to bed we’ve been doing a “Plug Sweep”. We unplug all unused appliances- especially phone or iPod chargers! I didn’t know until a few months back that if something’s plugged in it uses energy! Even if it’s just sitting there!
Thanks!!!
