I am a Grandma. I loved English, art and music and anything “nature” related. Was not able to further my education, but that never stopped my passion. I write poems, little stories, etc. and illustrate them totally for my own and my grandchildren’s enjoyment and especially those concerning birds and animals. My son is an artist and musician. Now, my grandson is learning to play the guitar. My grandaughters and having fun this summer making bird feeders and watching the activity. Hopefully all of my grandchildren can find satisfaction in creativity.

Comment by Lauralee Hensley on 24 August 2009:
My favorite subject in school was math, but that’s probably because my teachers in grade school were always excited by math and were very good at teaching it so kids loved it. Then in Junior and High School my best teachers who really seemed to love their teaching jobs and could actually teach the subject they were supposed to were again MATH teachers. I went all the way through TRIG in high school. I would have done Calculus in my senior year, but the school board dropped it because they said not enough students ever signed up for this class. I had poorly motivated English teachers and therefore know my English sentence structure skills are bad.

Are there any laws against sending a PB&J sandwich for your kids lunch EVERY DAY? At $2.30 a day for school lunch, they’re gonna have to get used to sandwiches all the time!
Comment by Cori Westphal on 24 August 2009:
I think it’s really sad that this year, because of budget cuts, my son will only have Art class once every two weeks! That’s really sad. Granted, they do art projects in the classroom, I think Art should be a lot bigger focus for our kids. Crazy!
Comment by Cori Westphal on 24 August 2009:
15 days and counting. Crazy that because of the holiday, my kids aren’t starting school until the 8th. That means they are going to have to go all the way until June 10th! That’s so unfair! (or it would be if I was still in school! – not so much now that I’m a parent!) LOL
Comment by Cori Westphal on 24 August 2009:
Just got my kids new gym shoes. Found em at a flea market for $5! Can’t beat that when I have to buy 4 new pairs of shoes! They should make all new shoes gym-class ready so they only need one pair! But I have a little girl and, god forbid, she wear tennis shoes every day! LOL
Comment by Deborah Stinson on 24 August 2009:
Does gym count? No, actually, my favorite subject was French and I really enjoyed learning the vocabulary every week. However, even after some more French in college, I still cannot hold a decent conversation that a French person might understand!

Not sure I had a FAVORITE subject but I had subjects I liked more because the teacher teaching it would actually teach us… If I really had to pick I think it would be between English and Science
